Long Exposure Photography Tuition

Have you ever wanted to create those incredible images where the surface of running water is transformed to a beautifully smooth texture with a silky surface or the sky into a magical canvas of moving clouds merged into a clear sky while the rest of the image is a scene of peace and tranquility?

Welcome to the world of long exposure photography! Slow everything right down and learn how to turn seemingly ordinary scenes into truly mesmerising images.

Long Exposure Photography Tuition Details

During this 5 hour workshop I will guide you through the process of creating photographs using long exposures of anywhere from 10 - 60 seconds or more with the use of neutral density filters. This is a hands on workshop which will include some travel to various locations around London. When the tide allows the session will even include access to the Thames foreshore to capture images from a low angle across the river.

Understanding how to achieve accurate exposure and how to use a camera’s built-in light meter is not essential as all instruction will be provided although a basic grasp of camera settings is useful, as long exposure photography is a somewhat more advanced technique. During this 5 hour workshop I will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of how to calculate exposure accurately and how to make adjustments to your exposures to get the best results. I will explain the process in detail and offer advice on technical settings and composition.

Long exposure workshops are relaxed and informal. I always make sure to give as much attention to each participant as they need, so in order to get the most out of a session, groups are limited in size to no more than four people.  For larger groups, or for camera clubs or corporate style photography groups please contact me to discuss details.

Note: The above image is for reference only. Unless specifically requested, the Thames Barrier is not included in the itinerary for the Long Exposure Photography Workshop.

Capture One Tuition

I use Capture One Pro for my workflow as I find it is by far the best post processing software on the market. If you are unfamiliar with this software, a free 30 day trial can be downloaded here. I am able to provide an introduction to Capture One workshop as a personal tuition session for 1-2 people. Sessions take place either at clients' home or office or in a cafe location in central London.
